I had a D-Link router DI-624, this is absolutely a great upgrade, it gave me much more coverage, improved the signal and the speed of my home network. Works great with 802.11 g and n.

I bought this modem as a replacement based on good reviews I had read.I noticed it had installed something called SecureSpot but didn't note much about it at the time. Boy was that a mistake.When I was travelling recently, my wife called to say that she was getting messages about SecureSpot popping up asking her to purchase the software, and didn't know what to do except click "remind me later".After I got home, the 30-day trial was up and when I tried to access the internet, SecureSpot STOPPED ME FROM ACCESSING ANY INTERNET PAGE until I either purchased their product or agreed to be endlessly reminded to purchase.They had some cryptic instructions on how to disable the messages, but I have no idea how to use them, so I am going to be stuck on a call to DLink support on New Year's Eve to get my modem back.Nice modem, good speed. But sorry DLink, I'm recommended that all my friends and family NOT buy any DLink modems in the future. Go with another good brand that won't install scamware on your system and require a call to support to get it off.

I then tried to use Netflix, and I got the can't find a connection message. The first problem was with my Siemen's SpeedStream DSL modem. After more resets, reinstalling the router, etc., I called D-Link tech support. Lots of problems. I was finally able to get the BD390 to say that it had an Internet connection. I tried reinstalling and resetting everything, still no dice. Hitting the reset button on the SpeedStream didn't fix the issue.

After calling AT&T tech support, we got the modem up and running again. Problem two - even with the Internet running, there still was no signal at my Ethernet-connected Windows XP desktop. I had considerable difficulty setting this product up, and I finally gave up. I tried the wireless with my Vista laptop - success. I now tried to connect the wireless to my new LG BD390 Blu-Ray player (the reason I bought the D-Link in the first place). I tried automatically and manually configuring. The finish on the top of the DIR-628 turns out to be very fragile, and I accidentally scratched it when uninstalling everything. Finally, the icing on the cake.

When I connected the DIR-628, something happened to the modem and I lost the Internet signal. Retried everything, still no connection. It turns out that software supplied by D-Link, securespot 2.0, was the culprit here. We got it turned off and now I was able to use the Internet with my desktop computer. After three hours total, I gave up. Now it's no longer in original condition and I won't be able to return it.

The only thing I dont like is they dont treat Linux users as they treat Window$ ones.
